Look what was in my Inbox this morning??

Little Suma’s latest photograph.

Little Suma is with Rudozem Street Dog Rescue in Bulgaria and she so deserves her chance of a loving “Forever Home”.

Gender: Female
Born: 2008
Coat: Short haired
Size: Small
Spayed/Neuter: Yes
Microchipped: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes

Suma was rescued from the streets with her only surviving pup. She had an open tumour which had become infected and needed an operation straight away. That was in January 2011 and there has been no trouble with it since or evidence of any more tumours. Suma is a lovely little dog and is very corgi like in appearance. She has always got on well with the other dogs. She has sometimes barked at people she doesn’t know although is fine when she gets to know them and with most people she just wants to be friends with them straight away.

You can see Suma’s photo gallery HERE but please be aware that a couple of the photos may be upsetting.

Lenny – 9th May 2012 Update

Little Lenny is looking better (well I think) as his swelling in the eyes has gone down and his tail is not the angry pink colour that it was which is good. He does sleep a lot but he still has bursts of energy and adores being brushed and fussed over.

We are due a vet check up in a couple of days so it will be interesting to see if Edy sees a difference in him too.

Abby In Search of her “Forever Home”

This beautiful girl is called Abby and she was found near the bullring in Cehegin. Her colour is amazing and she has grey and brown freckles :-)

Abby was born approximately April 2010 and she is definitely a people lover.

She is such a sweet girl that adores to lie on the sofa but equally is happy out on her walks and she lives happily with other dogs.

She is sterilised and vaccinated.

She has been blood tested and results are to follow.

Also when Abby was found she had a re-occurring problem with her ear where she had a wound which would not stop bleeding. Eventually a biopsy was taken to see if there was a problem but this was all clear.

Abby has been with her foster mum now for just over 7 months and for some reason no one has shown an interest in her. Is this because of her colour?? If you are interested in adopting Abby, or you can help find her a home please email me. Thank you.

Lenny 4th May 2012

Okay, well we have literally just started the Corticosteroids (Prednisolona 20mg ¾ tablet every 24 hours) for 1 month.

We won’t start him off with anything else at this time as we will keep a very close eye. The dosage is quite low so we are hoping that we won’t need anything else at this time, but we will take each day as it comes. Lenny will be vet checked once a week, weight etc and if I have ANY concerns with him I just phone my vet straight away.

Both eyes are now swelling underneath and he must be uncomfortable but he just doesn’t show it. He just wants to eat my slippers and play.

As Lenny spends most of his time under my chair in the office anyway hopefully he will get settled and used to the new routine. I am going to try and separate off a separate area directly outside the office patio doors which is tiled, so that when the other four are inside her can at least spend an hour or so each day in the sunshine, as I know I would go stir crazy if I had to spend a month indoors! I can bleach the tiles and in addition I can wipe his feet with a 1/30 bleach solution. He has always done everything in the toilet department outdoors so I don’t think that he will be overly comfortable doing his ablutions indoors.

At the moment the little boy is fast asleep.

Lenny Update

Well it has been confirmed today that Lenny has Celulitis Juvenil. Treatment will start tomorrow.

It doesn’t seem that common as no-one I have spoken to has ever experienced this before and so we will see what the future holds.

In principle it is fully treatable, the only problem I may have is that as we will be suppressing his immune system and as such the area around him will need to be contained and sterilised from top to bottom. He can not have any contact with the other dogs and can not go outside so he will be in my office until he is fit and well.

If you would like to make a donation to help Lenny you can make a donation via PayPal – Thank You.
